Commitment to Public Safety
“In recent years, our community has witnessed an increase in violent crime, gang activity, break-ins, vandalism and graffiti. Chris believes we must commit ourselves and resources to aggressively confronting these challenges. We must dedicate our efforts to a forward thinking approach with prevention and intervention, and not just responding in a reactionary way.

Commitment to Community
“Commitment to our community is built upon the foundation of helping neighbors.”
Chris’ values from home have given him the commitment to serve our community. Chris has been an active member of the Morton Meadows neighborhood association, serving as President from 2001-2003. He obtained funding and oversaw the building of a handicap accessible garden and patio in Morton Meadows on Twin Ridge Boulevard. He revitalized the Morton Meadows Neighborhood Association’s newsletter by forging partnerships with local businesses who agreed to sponsor the newsletter. He has helped keep the neighborhood safe by volunteering for the citizen neighborhood patrol.

Chris and Jennifer have lead the “Feed the Firefighters” program for Fire Station 34 for a number of years as a way of giving thanks for those who protect us and our property.

In 1997, Chris was appointed by then Governor Ben Nelson to the Board of Directors of the Governors Council to Keep Nebraska Beautiful. In 2000, he was reappointed to the board by then Governor Mike Johanns.

In 2001, Mayor Mike Fahey appointed Chris to the Omaha Zoning Board of Appeals where he rose to Chairman. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals considering and resolving zoning ordinance disputes until 2007.

Commitment to Strengthen our City
“Our city faces extraordinary challenges in the years ahead. My commitment to families, public safety, fiscal responsibility and economic development will help strengthen our city.”

In managing the business affairs of his law firm, Chris understands the values of small business owners, their important role in economic development and also appreciates the challenges they face. Meeting payroll obligations and providing quality health insurance and retirement benefits for employees are at the heart of this business.

Chris’s law practice over the past seventeen years has taken him to many state and federal courts in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. He has also appeared before numerous administrative, legislative and local governing bodies. He has the experience that has prepared him to start leading on City Council from day one.

Commitment to Fiscal Discipline

Chris knows that our city faces significant financial challenges. Finding solutions will require a City Council that can serve professionally, work together and be respectful toward one another. It’s hard to forge solutions when elected officials do not work together. Chris’ record of leadership and service demonstrate a commitment to respect, civility and collegiality among his fellow board members. Working together, we can forge creative and reasonable solutions to these complex issues.
